Colonial Williamsburg

Role:   UI, UX

Project:   Custom Website Design

Agency:   yPartnership

This client wanted to separate their single website into two, one focused on the historical, and a new one (below) focused on hospitality. It was the largest website project the agency (yPartnership) had ever undertaken, at the time. Overall, it took two and a half years, and everything from the information architecture to design to content to the user experience were re-imagined for this project. My role was UI/UX, and I was the sole designer on the project, working with other user experience professionals, project managers, developers and writers. The main objective was to build the image of Colonial Williamsburg as a resort destination with world-class amenities, and help guests planning a trip to really understand how to “do” Colonial Williamsburg, and in the process take advantage of their on-property accommodations, restaurants and other hospitality services. Below are a few of the many pages I designed, including “Phase 2”, which was a complete re-design of their e-commerce system and process – from hotel reservations to admission tickets and beyond.
